Leave gas ON or OFF?

Hi.. well.. quick question.... do you keep the gas "on" or on "res"erve or "pri"me. Which is to the left and which is turning it right?? Just wondered.
Any info is appreciated.. Just got my bike back from shop yesterday !!!!!! Can't stop smiling while riding .....
